01 / Check the tier

Essential is not the Game Catalog tier

PlayStation's current plan table places the Game Catalog in Extra and Premium. Essential includes online multiplayer and monthly games, but not the Game Catalog. The August 12 PlayStation Blog announcement says Helldivers 2 joined the catalog when Devoid of Liberty went live.

02 / Find and download

Use the console catalog before diagnosing a missing license

1. On PS5, open PlayStation Plus from Games home.
2. Open Benefits, then Game Catalog.
3. Find Helldivers 2 and select Download. PlayStation says eligible catalog games also appear in Game Library.
4. Confirm the purchasing region and current plan. The official catalog page warns that availability varies by country and region.

03 / Online requirement

The catalog license does not remove the live-service requirement

Helldivers 2 gameplay requires internet access. PlayStation also identifies online multiplayer as a PlayStation Plus benefit across all three tiers. Downloading the catalog build does not create an offline campaign or remove the account and network requirements.

04 / Ownership boundary

Downloaded does not mean permanently purchased

PlayStation says Game Catalog titles remain available to the matching membership tier, but individual games can have an end date and leave the service. Its DLC guidance also says that if the membership expires or the title leaves the service, access to purchased DLC associated with that catalog game is lost until the player resubscribes or buys the base title.

05 / Missing listing

Stop before purchasing a second copy

1. Confirm the account shows Extra or Premium, not Essential.
2. Check the Game Catalog on the console and the current regional catalog page.
3. Confirm the same account owns the subscription and is signed in on the PS5.
4. If the listing is still absent, capture the plan, region, store listing, and exact error for PlayStation Support.
