The game did not shut down; its companion site did

PlayStation and Media Molecule both state that Tearaway.me was removed permanently on August 13, 2026. Features that require that site no longer work, while the offline game remains available. Old menu labels and in-game instructions can still mention the retired service, so seeing them does not prove that your install or save is damaged.

Let the expected timeout finish, then continue

On the original Tearaway, selecting an upload or collection update can continue in the background before showing an error. Media Molecule documents one camera-and-upload route that can pause play for about 30 seconds while the connection fails. After that timeout, play should resume.

  1. Do not repeat the upload. The remote destination is gone.
  2. Wait for the documented timeout. A temporary pause after choosing upload is expected.
  3. Continue the offline route. If the whole game remains frozen after the timeout, record the exact screen before changing files.

A Tearaway.me communication error is now expected

Tearaway Unfolded can attempt to sync the retired profile at boot, upload a photo, open the old site, reload community photos, or follow the unique profile URL. Media Molecule says those routes show a generic communication error; community-photo panels can fall back to default images.

VerifiedThe communication error on these named routes is a retired-service response, not proof of local save corruption.

Use Media Molecule's current papercraft page

PlayStation points players to Media Molecule's papercraft library. Open it in a normal browser instead of following the old in-game profile or unlock links. The new library preserves printable plans; it does not restore personal Tearaway.me profiles, uploaded photos, or historical community pages.

Do not reinstall to repair a service that no longer exists

  1. Confirm the error appears on one of the documented Tearaway.me routes.
  2. Return to the offline game path instead of retrying the upload or reload.
  3. Use the replacement papercraft page for printable plans.
  4. Only investigate the console, install, or save if an unrelated offline feature also fails reproducibly.
